It is with profound sadness that we remember Jack Hutchings, 24, of Peterborough, New Hampshire, whose life was tragically cut short following a violent incident on Sunday evening.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. during an altercation involving two adult neighbors outside their residences on Grove Street in Peterborough. Responding officers found Jack suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The incident also left an off-duty Peterborough Police Department officer seriously injured after sustaining multiple apparent stab or incised wounds. The officer was transported to a hospital, where he remains under medical care.
An autopsy on Jack was completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Officials have stated that the official cause and manner of death will be released following notification of his next of kin. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to examine all of the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the shooting occurred in self-defense.
