The Fort Wayne community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Lamond Rashod Goodier, a 20-year-old Fort Wayne man whose life was tragically cut short following a shooting early Sunday morning.
According to the Allen County Coroner’s Office, Lamond Rashod Goodier was identified as the victim who died after a shooting at the Shell gas station located in the 1900 block of Broadway, near Electric Works, in Fort Wayne. Police responded to the scene at approximately 3:00 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Lamond was transported to a nearby hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries despite the efforts of medical personnel. A second victim also suffered gunshot wounds but sustained injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening.
On Monday, the Allen County Coroner’s Office officially identified the deceased as Lamond Rashod Goodier, 20, of Fort Wayne. Following an examination, the coroner ruled his death a homicide, marking the 19th homicide investigated in Allen County this year.
The Fort Wayne Police Department continues to actively investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Detectives are working to determine what led to the violence and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
