MAHANOY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A community is mourning the loss of 62-year-old John F. Coleman of Shenandoah, who was killed in a tragic motorcycle crash Saturday evening, while Dalilah Delorus Trygar, 31, of Mahanoy City, faces multiple felony charges after investigators say she was impaired when she crossed into oncoming traffic and caused the fatal collision.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the crash happened shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Suffolk Road (Route 54) in Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County. Investigators said a Subaru Legacy driven by Trygar entered the opposite lane of travel while attempting to pass another vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming motorcycle.
Police said the force of the crash caused the motorcyclist, identified as John F. Coleman, to suffer fatal injuries. Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the initial impact, investigators said Trygar’s Subaru continued forward and struck another vehicle traveling nearby. The crash left emergency crews responding to a devastating scene as authorities worked to determine what led to the deadly collision.
Troopers identified the driver of the Subaru as Dalilah Delorus Trygar of Mahanoy City. According to court documents, Trygar told investigators she had dropped off her daughter and was traveling toward Shenandoah when the crash occurred. She reportedly said she attempted to pass a vehicle ahead of her before losing control and striking the motorcycle.
During their investigation, police said they observed signs that Trygar may have been impaired. Authorities reported that she had bloodshot, glossy eyes and that an odor of alcohol was detected during contact with her.
Investigators said Trygar admitted to consuming alcohol before driving, telling police she had one Corona beer and one shot of Crown Apple before getting behind the wheel.
According to court documents, Trygar was asked to complete standardized field sobriety testing, which police said showed multiple indicators of impairment. A preliminary breath test administered at approximately 8:30 p.m. allegedly showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.158%, which is above Pennsylvania’s legal limit.
Authorities later obtained a blood sample as part of the ongoing investigation.
Trygar has been charged with multiple offenses, including felony homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, DUI, reckless driving, careless driving resulting in death, and other traffic-related violations.
Court records show that Trygar was arraigned and bail was set at $100,000. Officials said bail has since been paid and she has been released while the case continues through the Schuylkill County court system.
The death of John F. Coleman has left loved ones and members of the community grieving the loss of a life taken far too soon. His passing serves as a painful reminder of the dangers caused by impaired and reckless driving.
As the legal process moves forward, family and friends continue to remember John Coleman and the impact he had on those who knew him.
Rest in peace, John F. Coleman. Your life mattered, your memory will live on, and you will never be forgotten. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss.
